The Past Uncovered
The latest issue of The Past Uncovered, the newsletter of Chester City Council’s Archaeology, Design and Conservation services, includes a front-page feature on our ‘Mapping Medieval Chester’ project. There’s also a handy introduction to Lucian and Bradshaw – two of the texts we’re working on – on page 2 as well. You can read the newsletter here as a PDF: the-past-uncovered-oct-2008.

Thanks for the heads-up on the newsletter–very nice PR for the project, and I’m pleased to see Lucian and Bradshaw get some love. Of course, I then noticed the blurb for Jane Laughton’s book on medieval Chester–which I’m sure will now cause me to wish that I could revise large swathes of Against All England!

We’re lucky enough to have Jane Laughton speaking at our colloquium next summer, and she’s offering some advice on the project. Her book is very timely!
We’re also delighted to see that your own book, ‘Against All England: Regional Identity and Cheshire Writing, 1195–1656′ is about to hit the shops (quick plug for you there!). It looks great and extremely relevant to our project themes – looking forward to reading it.
