‘Hryre’: photos of the St John’s artwork (phase 1)

The first, temporary, phase of the St John’s art installation is currently up and running in Chester. This will be replaced by the permanent installation early in 2012. The photos here were taken by the artist, Nayan Kulkarni.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the artwork, so please get in touch. The interpretation leaflet here explains how to do that.

    Hello
I am confused. I picked up the Hryre leaflet at St Johns, but did not see any illuminations, Do you have to go at night? The illustration on the leaflet is too badly printed to make sense. The mentioned cheshirewest face book page doesn’t exist, the blog link on the leflet does not work. I would like to respond and am interested in the idea of this artwork but need a clearer explanation please

  2. Catherine Clarke Says:

Hi there, Angela. Yes, you do have to visit the St John’s site after dark. The illuminations are switched off during the day as you wouldn’t be able to see them anyway. We’re really keen to have your feedback and have had lots of really positive and interested comments from people in Chester. I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t been able to get in touch. You can give us your feedback by texting ‘Light’, followed by your comment, to 63333 or you can email artswest@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk. This is only the temporary artwork and everything is still very much a work in progress at the moment, so please bear with us. The permanent artwork will be launched early next year.

    Dear Angela,

Thanks for your interest, and sorry for the confusion. There is an error on the leaflet – the blog URL isn’t right, but you’ve found the blog anyway (this is it!) However the Facebook link does work as far as I can tell, as long as you’re logged in.

Dr Clarke should be able to fill you in on the light installations.
