Our exhibition on TV

Our ‘Discover a Medieval City’ exhibition at the Grosvenor Museum, Chester, will feature on S4C tomorrow (23 July, 2013) between 7 and 7.30pm. We’re particularly pleased that this Welsh channel is covering the exhibition as medieval Chester was in many ways a ‘Welsh’ city. Please tune in and see what we’ve been doing!

Hi message for catherine clarke just to say i enjoyed your lecture at grosvenor museum tonight 25 july. As you are aware we talked about a simular interest we have in viking/saxon chester. If you are interested i have a facebook page called viking chester which i am interested in developing/researching and have created a re-enactment group now called viking chester based at st john`s doing living history based around crafts and some small scale battles to enable the people of chester to see first hand the importance of hiberno norse occupation within the city around 907ad. Many thanks Karl

Hi Karl – thanks very much for your message. It was great to meet you at our lecture on Thursday and to hear about your projects on Viking Chester. I’m looking forward to visiting your Facebook page. Uncovering Chester’s early-medieval history is a challenge, as we discussed! But it’s a very interesting period and I agree with you that it needs brining to wider public attention – Chester is not just a Roman city! I’m sure your re-enactment group will help to capture the public imagination and I’ll keep an eye out for your activities in future. Stay in touch! Catherine
